How long do people have therapy for?It is up to you! There is no definitive answer for this. Some people come for a short time to help them process a specific problem they are going through and some poeple continue seeing their therapists even when things feel better just to stay curious and have someone to talk to. Often one of the goals of therapy is to help the client to find ways of nurturing the different parts of themselves and manage big emotions themselves however this can take as long as needed and it is up to the client how long they come for.

I want to book a session, how does it work? You can email me or call the number on my website. I offer a free telephone consultation to discuss your needs and discuss your concerns. We will then have a short three week assessment period and once we have decided to continue I will see you at the same time and day in the therapy room each week.

Can I end at any time?Yes you can. You have complete control over that. It could be useful if you feel like you want to leave to try to be honest with me first as something may be playing out that happens in other relationships that we can address together or it could be something that can be easily resolved once spoken about. But always up to you!

Where does the counselling take place and what is the room like? The counselling would take place at The Awareness Centre in Clapham, South West London on a Monday afternoon or Wednesday evening. I have slots available at 1:30, 2:30, 3:30 and 4:30.on a Monday and 6pm, 7pm, 8pm and 9pm on a Wednesday. The room is spacious and comfortable with chairs and a table and an array of resources if needed. It is a confidential space where we can not be overheard and is within a counselling centre with a reception desk and in the centre of Clapham.

How do I know if I would benefit from counselling?Maybe if you are often feeling stressed, sometimes to the point of anger/rage or burn out and illness it would be useful to see a therapist to share what you are going through. If you are feeling anxious, in friendships, relationships, work or at home where you are feeling unfulfilled or resentful it could be worth looking at that. Therapy is a place where you can be honest and explore and be curious about who you are within yourself and in relationships and it can really help you to identify and work out tricky emotions and make changes. If you struggle to talk openly and honestly with people around you, then seeing a counsellor could be helpful. Any problem, loss or trauma - you can be helped to process it.
